Opened the first Hearthstone Assisted Living Community. |

Tim Hekker accepted the Chief Executive Officer role. |

Opened first community outside of Texas in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Started providing Alzheimer’s and dementia care in a secured area within the community called The Harbour. |
2001 |
Ranked among “Houston 100,” a ranking of the fastest-growing privately owned businesses in the greater Houston area. Compiled by the University of Houston Small Business Development Center, the rankings are based on revenue growth over the three-year period from 1998 through 2000.
Opened last of the 32 purpose built communities. |

Established the industry’s first wholly owned captive insurance subsidiary. |

Awarded one of Houston’s “Best Places to Work” by the Houston Business Journal. To be deemed a winner, companies had to receive a 95 percent or better employee confidence rating in their company, employment practices and senior management team.
Headquarters relocated to The Woodlands, Texas (suburb outside of Houston). |
